Camped by the South River
Tyne on the Friday night, drinking in the George and Dragon in Garrigill.
The pitch was lovely and soft and a good night was had by all.
The party was nine strong and began walking up the Pennine Way at about
10.30am arriving at Greg's Hut at 1.15pm. Had a very good lunch stop and
the shortly after 2pm'ish headed over Cross Fell. We were in cloud just
after leaving Greg's Hut and conditions on top were very nearly arctic.
Walked in mist to the pitch.
We pitched at Tees Head, which is a couple of miles off the top of Cross
Fell.
On Sunday morning some of the party went over Little Dun and Great Dun Fell,
while others followed the Tees. We met at lunch time near some farm buildings.
Back to Garrigill for 3.45pm where most people adjourned to the pub where
there was a nice open fire. (Jonathan Lane)
