We had a pretty good weekend at Green Farm Shap, Ron Johnston, John Douglas, and I arrived early soon to be joined by Graeme Tutin and his little mate alfie, Terry Coulson and David Potts .  After a visit to the chippy, a few pints and a good kip we were joined by Paul Beamson.  As he had suggested the weekend some time ago our route was explained to us by him.  We headed first for Mosedale cottages for a brew stop and then headed up to the top of Harter fell where we would like to have found water as the wind would keep the midges down.  Sadly there was none so we dropped down to Small Water where we found a really good pitch with good water but every time the wind dropped there were clouds of midges.  Very early the next morning Terry was up and away by 6am! He headed back up the path to go over Mardale ill Bell - High Street - High Raise - Bampton Common down to the Hawswater reservoir and around to Shap on the C2C route.  The rest of us started at 8.30am and headed along the south side of Hawswater to the Old Corpse road and followed that to Swindale and then a path back to Green Farm Shap.
