We started walking on
the Saturday morning from Garrigill heading towards Alston along the
river on the Pennine Way. We then walked along the road for a short
way to get to the Maiden's Way stopping for lunch at the bothy known
as Melmerby Shop. Pitched near Teeshead to the east of Crossfell.
